শচীর মন্দিরে আসি দুয়ারের পাশে বসি
ধীরে ধীরে কহে বিষ্ণুপ্রিয়া।
শয়ন-মন্দিরে ছিলা নিশাভাগে কোথা গেলা
মোর মুণ্ডে বজর পাড়িয়া॥
গৌরাঙ্গ জাগয়ে মনে নিদ্রা নাহি দু-নয়নে
শুনিয়া উঠিলা শচীমাতা।
আউদড়-কেশে ধায় বসন না রহে গায়
শুনিয়া বধূর মুখে কথা॥
তুরিতে জালিয়া বাতি দেখিলেন ইতি উতি
কোন ঠাঞি উদ্দেশ না পাইয়া।
বিষ্ণুপ্রিয়া বধূ সাথে কান্দিতে কান্দিতে পথে
ডাকে শচী নিমাই বলিয়া॥
শুনিয়া নদিয়া-লোকে কান্দে উচ্চস্বরে শোকে
যারে তারে পুছেন বারতা।
একজন পথে যায় দশজনে পুছে তায়
গৌরাঙ্গ দেখ্যাছ যাইতে কোথা॥
সে বলে দেখ্যাছি পথে কেহো তা নাহিক সাথে
কাঞ্চননগর পথে ধায়।
কহে বাসু-ঘোষ ভাষা শচীর এমন দশা
পাছে জানি মস্তক মুড়ায়॥
